Friday Forward and Back

Looking Back:

We had a fantastic Tuesday at our Telehealth Summit in partnershp wtih the RCGP. Skinner’s Hall in the City was full of entrepreneurial GPs, Nurses, Hospital Doctors, Innovators and Providers who know that we have to transform the way we deliver care in the 21st century.More on this to follow.

The Health Bill is going through scrutiny again, not that anyone had had time to read the amendments before it got underway, but you can read what was said here, and the amendments here (good luck).

Electronic Health records received a public blow as Google Health ‘retired’, however there are a growing number of opportunities to access your health data through organisations such as Patient Knows Best and go-ahead surgeries such as Haugton Thornley Medical Centre. Microsoft may be jubilant at their rival’s departure but HealthVault isn’t widely know in the UK. Why not?

What the professional bodies are now saying about the Health Bill has been summarised but of course the focus this weekend will be on Dilnot – and those who were with 2020health, Dilnot and Saga at the June 7th roundtable launch of our report ‘Take Care’  will know that he has picked up on my major line : we have to remove the fear from growing frail and ill.

So Looking Forward next week highlights are:

  • 4th Report from Dilnot, Warner and Williams on Funding for Social Care
  • 4th/5th Initial government response to above
  • 5th Health Bill Committee meeting
  • 6th 2020health roundtable on GPs and the Health Bill
  • 6th-8th NHS Confed
