About Julia

Julia studied visual science at City University and qualified as an optometrist in 1991. Her career has included being a visiting lecturer in clinical practice at City University, therapeutic contact leneses at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead, being a founder member of the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists and a Director of the UK Institute of Optometry. She owned a specialised optometry practice for people with mental and physical disabilities until 2009.

Julia is a founder and Director of 2020health.org which she launched at the end of 2006 as a Think Tank for Health and Technology. It uniquely focuses on bottom-up policy development by front line professionals and aims to embed core principals of improvement, innovation, stewardship and ownership in healthcare delivery in the UK. She stood for Parliament in 2005, is married with two children and likes cycling, mountains and Ian Fleming.
